We’ve all done it. We make plans for a romantic weekend and then someone (usually me) never has time to get everything together! This can be a blessing and a curse. Flying by the seat of your pants is incredibly expensive and a huge hassle when it comes to spending romantic time together. Don’t worry though, we’ve got you covered.

5)The Journey Is The Destination

One thing we all crave and forget to do is communicate. There is no better way to learn about each other than sitting in a car together for hours at a time. Our favorite drives have been heading North or South on the PCH and seeing where things take us. The point of the trip isn’t to get anywhere specific, but to find and discover new things. That restaurant you always passed on your way to San Francisco, now is your chance to stop in and try it. Don’t look at the clock and if you can, throw all your devices in the back seat. Enjoy each other and the moment!

Topanga Canyon  is an amazing place to spend an afternoon. Start on the Western side of the canyon as early as possible. Have some lunch at one of the Canyon’s restaurants and finish off your afternoon with a hike. Head out of the Canyon for a fun windy drive toward the 101. You get all the benefits of a road trip, without actually having to head out of the city!

If you’re okay with spending a some money and having an unforgettable experience, we highly recommend hopping on a boat and heading to Catalina. The tickets are a bit pricey at $75 roundtrip each, but the journey is a blast. When you get to the island, walk around and experience Avalon’s restaurants, head to the beach and take a quick tour of the casino. It’s not the sort of trip you take every weekend, but you can’t really say you’ve done everything in SoCal without heading to Catalina!

2)An Abandoned Zoo

We know it sounds like a cliché, but Griffith park is one of the best places to have a romantic afternoon. Avoid the traffic around the observatory and wind your way around to some of the lesser trafficked parts of the park. We are huge fans of the area around the abandoned zoo, yes, Griffith Park has an abandoned zoo! After you have your picnic on the massive lawn, you can head over to where they shot the closing scene for Anchor Man.

Having a nice picnic starts and ends with good food. Before you hit the park, head to DoughBoys! The DoughBoys Picnic basket is a steal! For $45 you get 1 Baguette, 4 spreads, 2 drinks, and your choice of: 1 sandwich, 1 salad, 1 dessert bar, 1 cookie and 1 side of fruit. The basket also includes a table cloth, plates and utensils. More than enough for a quick afternoon meal and everything you need (except drinks) is included.

The ride out to Malibu is amazing and whether it’s day or night, Sequit Point never fails to amaze. Summer weekends here are crowded. Catching it on the right day and the right time, and you will have an exquisite, romantic moment. The area is most impressive at dusk, watching the sun go down over the water is a breathtaking experience! It is by far the best Los Angeles romantic date we can imagine!

And remember, if you’re idea of a romantic date is a night in, it’s never been easier to rent a Sybian from us!
